Creating a new story in Rally

After creating a New Story, the story editor will open and you will see this screen to get started. You can either record your screen or upload existing clips. If you've used general screen recording tools like Loom before, recording in Rally should feel familiar too.

Does Rally have a desktop app? Rally's default screen recorder is browser-based for convenience. A native app will be available for download early 2025 with additional recording controls, cursor zooms, and regional capture.

Record slides from an existing presentation

You can also begin by importing slides from a presentation in PDF format, which will automatically create cards in your story for each page. Once imported, record your voiceover using the Add Narration button.

Adding new content to your story

Add additional cards to the story via the filmstrip at the bottom. Click and drag a card to move it. Publishing will update the version available via shared links or embedded videos.

The card title will appear in the table of contents when viewing the story. We recommend labeling with navigation in mind, favoring headlines and topics instead of clever phrasing.

What's the difference between narration and content? In Rally, stories have two components: Narration and Content. When you're recording a screen, that's content. When you're recording yourself presenting the content, that's narration. You can replace narration without changing content, which is helpful when multiple members of your team want to present the same materials. Learn more about the narration system in this guide.
