If you have an existing recording made in Screen Studio, importing it into Rally will make sharing and edits easier to manage. To do this, you will need to export two separate tracks to make it compatible with the format in Rally:

  1. Narrator, which includes the webcam view of the presenter (you).

  2. Content which you are presenting, like a screen recording.

In Rally, both of these tracks are separate for flexibility. If you export the video from Screen Studio as a single video, you will lose the ability to swap narrators or revise your voiceover later. Because of this, we recommend exporting both tracks separately and importing them into your story.

Exporting from Screen Studio

When viewing your recording in Screen Studio, select File > Extract Recording Files > Extract screen recording file. This will give you a separate video file for the screen recording, which you can import to Rally by following instructions in the next section.

Heads up: By default, Screen Studio separates the audio and video tracks for your webcam recording.

If you would also like the webcam video, you will need to export both tracks, and then combine them using a third party tool before importing. It may be simpler to just record your narration again in Rally instead of trying to combine the MP3 and MP4 files exported from Screen Studio.

If you only need the voiceover, you can import an MP3 as your narration track in Rally. Export the audio file from Screen Studio via Extract Recording Files > Extract Microphone audio file.

Importing your screen recording into Rally

From the editor in Rally, select "Upload media" from the "Add Content" menu, then selecting the screen recording track exported from Screen Studio.

Importing Narration into Rally

From the editor in Rally, select "Upload media" from the Narration menu, then selecting the webcam track exported from Screen Studio. You can split the clip up further after uploading by double clicking on the track, or by selecting the edit icon from the menu.

Making changes after publishing

Your recording should now be available to edit and publish. One of the benefits to importing your recording from Screen Studio to Rally is that you can update it in place, without breaking the links to existing videos you've shared publicly. If you need to update one or both of these tracks in the future, follow this guide again, or use the included recording tools within Rally's editor.
